This formula has a 99% biodegradation in sewage treatment, OECD 303A, biodegradable in water, and nontoxic to fish and other aquatic organisms.
- DEET & PERMETHRIN FREE
Read why that is important and why this spray is desirable:
(Permethrin is an EPA Regulated product that is used to spray the outdoor workers clothes. Precautions state on the bottle: “Not to be applied to clothing while being worn. Under no circumstances should bare skin, or clothing on the body be treated. If sprayed on the skin, rinse immediately with plenty of water for 15-20 minutes. Environmental hazards state that this product is extremely toxic to fish, honeybees and cats due to the disruption of sodium channels.”)
(Deet cannot be sprayed on fire retardant clothing because it is solvent based and will destroy the integrity of the garment. It should never be used around rubber utility gloves, because it can dry out the plasticizers causing degradation of the workers gloves. Deet will break down and remove paint, plastics, synthetic fibers and test equipment. Deet is highly flammable and should not be applied under clothing.)
