Adhesives
"Epoxy" is often used as a generic term when identifying all adhesives in the stone industry. It is important to note, though, that not all Epoxys are created equally and that some are designed to be used outside as well as inside while others are designed specifically for indoor use or when the application will not be exposed to the outside environment. As a "Rule-of-Thumb" remember the following:
Outside Use = Epoxy Based Adhesive
Inside Use = Polyester/Resin Based Adhesive
Water-like consistency. Two component Epoxy used mainly for strengthening porous and fissured natural stone and concrete surfaces.
Water-like consistency. Two component epoxy used for firmly closing cracks and large pores. Very good on natural stone and concrete, also used for strengthening brittle natural stone slabs.
Liquid. For laminating work (sandwich bondings), filling fissures and work on horizontal surfaces. Easy color matching.
Gel Consistency. For fine bonding joints on vertical surfaces. Easy color matching.
Cream Consistancy. For bondings on vertical surfaces and leveling of big irregularities. Non-sag properties. Rapid hardening. Easy color matching.
Paste. For bondings on vertical surfaces and leveling of big irregularities. High non-sag properties. Good adhesion on metal.
Neutral color Liquid. Two component adhesive. Used for sandwich bonding mainly for weather resistant applications. Very thin adhesion joints, very good non-yellowing characteristics. Good adhesion for concrete and materials which react with solvents.
Neutral color. Gel consistency.
Two component adhesive. Used for vertical surfaces because of its high
creep strength consistency. Good weather resistant application, very good
non-yellowing characteristics.
Rapid hardening epoxy system for
boreholes and small bondings.

Barre Pak Epoxy
Barre Pak is the special epoxy designed expressly for the stone industry. It can be used to permanently bond a monument to its base, and to repair broken tablets. Barre Pak is easy to use because everything has been pre-measured and is mixed in its own container with no mess! Miles Supply carries the 70 gram kits, which will adhere the average monument (3’ x 2’ 6" x 8") to its base. The working life of the 70 gram Barre Pak kit is approximately 1 to 1 ¼ hours, with temperatures under 50° F increasing tac time, and temperatures above 100° F decreasing tac time. Barre Pak epoxy takes 24 hours to cure fully. A great solution for safety and to deter vandalism!
CP Bond Epoxy
CP Bond is used to permanently bond a monument to its base and to repair broken tablets, monuments and marble. CP Bond is better suited for vertical surfaces due to its thicker consistency that will not run. It is widely used for the assembly of mausoleums. Miles Supply stocks 250 and 500 gram kits, but can special order 2, 3, 4, 6, or 8 lb. kits. The entire contents of the kit must be mixed at the same time and will allow a working time of approximately 4 to 6 hours. Temperatures under 50° F will increase tac time, and temperatures over 100° F will decrease tac time. CP Bond takes 24 hours to cure completely. A 250 gram kit will set up to 3 standard size monuments (3’ x 2’ 6" x 8"), and a 500 gram kit will set up to 6 standard size monuments.
3M Scotch Weld
A wide variety of mixtures available for any situation. Very popular for its cartridge style system and the self-mixing tube, these enhancement also makes Scotch Weld easy to use with very little waste.
K Bond
Miles Supply carries this popular product that's known for its similarity to "Akemi" epoxies. K Bond adhesives mixing ratios vary depending on desired gel and cure times. Available in flowing or paste form. Colors include transparent, clear, white and buff.
E-Bond / Custom Bond
E-Bond/Custom Bond is an epoxy that is known for its excellent clarity, adhesion, water and chemical resistance. Available from Miles Supply in a variety of colors including white paste and clear flowing.
